Uniplex distributes a range of quality sutures manufactured by the global organisation Meril. Meril is an innovative, state-of-the-art company with products being used for surgery in over 100 countries. A collaboration between the two companies has led to Uniplex distributing 10 brands from Meril’s absorbable and non-absorbable range of sutures – all with unique properties.

Every suture is swaged using multi-stroke technology and tested for a needle pull check. Meril’s sutures have a square body design that allows for a firm grip along with having a high penetration coating. The Sutures are manufactured using 300 series stainless steel, providing the healthcare professional with a sharper, stronger needle.

Meril’s vast range has over 1000 combinations, including different colours, needle shapes, point types, symbols and USPs. The suture is easily distinguished by its colour coded, ergonomically designed, easy to use packaging. Meril has a full range of sutures, including Synthetic and Natural Non-absorbable sutures and also Natural and synthetic absorbable sutures.

Mitsu – Polyglactin 910

MITSUTM is a mid-term absorbable braided and coated synthetic suture made of poly (glycolide-co-l-lactide)(90/10). MITSUTM degrades by hydrolysis and assures predictable and reliable absorption.  Made from a copolymer of 90% glycolide & 10% lactide, MITSUTM (Polyglactin 910) suture is available as dyed and undyed. The suture coating is a mixture composed of a copolymer of glycolide and lactide (Polyglactin 370) and Calcium stearate.

Mitsu FST – Polyglactin 910

MITSU FST TM  is a short-term absorbable braided and coated synthetic suture made of poly (glycolide-co-l-lactide)(90/10) that achieves complete mass absorption within 40 to 42 days. MITSU FST TM  degrades by hydrolysis and assures predictable and reliable absorption.  MITSU FST TM  (Polyglactin 910)  is available as dyed and undyed. MITSU FST TM  contains only FDA approved colour additives. The suture coating is a mixture composed of copolymer of glycolide and lactide (Polyglactin 370) and Calcium stearate.

Megasorb – Polyglycolic Acid

MegasorbTM is a mid-term absorbable braided and coated synthetic suture made of Polyglycolic acid. MegasorbTM degrades by hydrolysis and provides predictable and reliable absorption. MegasorbTM  is coated with a mixture of Caprolactone and Calcium Stearate and is available in violet and also undyed.

FILAPRONTM (Polyglecaprone 25) is a dyed/undyed short-term synthetic absorbable monofilament suture composed of poly(glycolide-co-coprolactone).  FILAPRONTM offers excellent handling properties and high knot security.

Filaxyn- Polydioxanone

FILAXYNTM monofilament synthetic absorbable suture is composed of Poly (p-dioxanone). These sutures are used when prolonged wound support (up to 42 days) is desirable and the surgeon’s preference is an absorbable suture.

Mericron XL – Polyester Suture

MERICRON XLTM Polyester suture is a non-absorbable synthetic braided suture composed of Poly (ethylene terephthalate). Its high-quality material combined with precise braiding mechanism nearly eliminates the occurrence of post-operative suture fragments in the tissue. Unlike absorbable and some non-absorbable sutures, MERICRON XLTM polyester surgical suture does not show any significant change in tensile strength retention known to occur in vivo.

Filaprop – Polypropylene

FILAPROPTM polypropylene suture is a non-absorbable, sterile surgical suture made of an isotactic crystalline stereoisomer of polypropylene, a synthetic linear polyolefin. The suture is pigmented blue to enhance visibility. FILAPROPTM is also offered in Less Memory Tray (LMT) as well as in long folders to avoid the memory effect.
